Jay C. MacDonald, Managing Partner, eValue AG
Entrepreneur, investor, investment banker, Jay C. MacDonald has enjoyed over 20 years of success in the digital media and general media sectors in the United States and Europe. As a Partner at one of America’s preeminent media investment banks, Jay founded and is the Head of the Digital Media & Technology Group, where he has deep experience in the internet sectors i.e. Lead Generation, Ad Networks, Online Research & Analytics and Online Video. His most recent notable deals include representing Microsoft in their divestiture of their asset FranchiseGator to Landmark Interactive, Answerology’s sale to Hearst, Dedicated Marketing Solutions sale to Media Initiatives Group LTD, Falk AG’s sale to DoubleClick and others. Prior to this he was founder and managing partner of MAG-TECH Capital Partners, a boutique investment bank & venture fund. Jay was also the founder and CEO of the WorkingWomanNetwork, Inc., MacDonald Communications and World Congress, Inc. Earlier Jay was the publisher of Inc. Magazine. Throughout his illustrious career Jay has been an active investor in early stage digital media companies and as board member of numerous new media and Internet companies. Jay holds a B.A. from the College of Wooster.
Timothy O’Brien, Vice President, Video Services, Yahoo!
Timothy O’Brien currently holds the position of Vice President, Video Services, for Yahoo! In this role, he is responsible for the delivery of creative and professional services required for Yahoo! and its partners to monetize video across their online platforms.
Most recently, he was Vice President of Media Services at Maven Networks, which was acquired by Yahoo! in early 2008. At Maven, he was responsible for leading the company’s Professional Services, Creative Services, Media Network Operations & Customer Support teams, and was the executive in charge of Maven’s day-to-day relationships with its professional media customers and growing community of development partners.
Timothy previously served as a Partner in IBM Global Services’ Media and Entertainment industry practice in North America and Asia, where he was responsible for more than $100 million annually in digital media services engagements. He was one of the principal designers of IBM’s Digital Media Factory, an end of end framework that enabled rich media content to be managed and distributed for a wide range of networks and devices- PCs, mobile phones, set-top boxes, kiosks, game platforms, etc.
Timothy also served as Managing Director at Prana Consulting, where he helped leading content and service providers In Asia and Europe realize new business opportunities in leveraging their content over a range of digital networks and channels. During this period, he served as President of European start-up Porto Media, where he led a business that offers movies, television and other content via retail kiosks for flash media devices.
Timothy has extensive experience in creating innovative approaches for developing business models, content models, and integrated solutions supporting the access, use, sale, rights and distribution of digital media.
Daniel Schultz, Co-Founder and Managing Director, DFJ Gotham
Danny has worked closely with private early-stage and mature public companies in the communications, media and technology industries for over two decades. He has been active investing in and helping guide several successful entrepreneurial start-ups prior to co-founding Atlantic Venture Partners, the predecessor to DFJ Gotham Ventures.
Danny focuses on investments in financial services, digital media, network infrastructure and mobile technologies. Currently, he is a member of the Board of Directors of Pivot Solutions (IM for Wall Street) and Magnolia Broadband (RF smart antenna chipsets) and is a Board Observer with ViVOtech (contactless hardware and software solutions).
Danny led Gotham’s successful investment in XOsoft (disaster recovery software) sold to CA in 2006 and was a member of the Board of Massive (in-video game advertising) helping to steer it to a successful acquisition by Microsoft also in 2006. Additionally, he sat on the board of Pantero (data integration middleware) guiding it through its sale to Progress Software and was a board member of SMART System Technologies (contactless payment and CRM platform).
Danny is a member of the High Tech Evaluation Committee of the Yissum technology transfer unit of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem – Yissum. He is a member of the board of the Venture Industry Association of New York, an advisor to the NYC Seed Investment Fund and is a member of the Israel Venture Association.
Prior to co-founding DFJ Gotham, Danny was a senior banker with Lehman Brothers in the Equity Capital Markets groups in both New York and London focused on technology and emerging growth companies. He is a member of the Investment Committee of the endowment fund of the American Friends of The Hebrew University and is the Assistant Treasurer and a member of the National Board of Governors of AFHU.
Danny is a graduate of Columbia University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Economics. He and his family reside in Westchester, New York. Outside of his entrepreneurial, VC and family-related activities, he can frequently be found at roughly 10pm somewhere in Westchester playing ice hockey.
Ian Sigalow, Partner, Greycroft, LLC
Ian Sigalow is a partner with Greycroft, LLC. Prior to joining Greycroft, Ian founded StrongData Corporation, a pioneer in digital encryption, and spent several years as a venture capitalist with Boston Millennia Partners, where he focused on early stage companies in the software and Internet sectors.
In addition to Panvidea, Ian currently serves or observes on the boards of Greycroft’s investments in Buddy Media, Buzzd, Collective Media, CrowdFusion, Extreme Reach, MarketBright, M5 Networks, OnePIN, and Vizu. Ian previously invested in and advised several companies, including Airpath Wireless (acquired by Aptilo) and SensorLogic.
Ian’s past experience also includes investment banking in the technology group at Donaldson, Lufkin, and Jenrette and strategy consulting with the Arnold Business Strategy Group.
